Information / Leadership / EmpowermentGoal 1: Persons with disabilities, family members, and assistants who attend the Annual MegaConference will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge and abilities to advocate for themselves.
Objective 1: Co-sponsor, develop, organize, and promote the annual statewide disability conference.
Objective 2: Sponsor 150 persons with disabilities, family members and assistants to attend the conference.
Goal 2: Persons with disabilities will become empowered to exercise their rights, access services, and live independently through collaborations.
Objective 1: Collaborate with Assistive Technology Centers across the state by participating in informational events and trainings to educate persons about increased independence through the use of assistive technology devices.
Objective 2: Collaborate in community, state, or national efforts to expand the rights of persons with disabilities and increase services to meet needs.
Objective 3: Provide information to community leaders, service providers, and individuals with disabilities about emergency preparedness and response.
Objective 4: Disseminate statewide the developed joint assessment on the needs of persons with developmental disabilities and interpret the data to determine future DD Network priorities.
Goal 3: Spanish speaking persons with disabilities will have greater access to disability related information and services.
Objective 1: Promote Camino Seguro efforts to the Hispanic disability population and service providers statewide, especially in East Tennessee.
Objective 2: Conduct outreach activities to the Spanish speaking community in the Middle Tennessee area.
Objective 3: Translate disability related information documents for Spanish speakers.
