Access to Programs and Services

Goal 1: Persons with disabilities will have access to the electoral process.
 
Objective 1: Conduct voter registration activities, outreach, or education workshops on voting rights for people with disabilities. 
 
Objective 2: Advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities who experience discrimination during voter registration or when voting. 
 
Objective 3: Monitor performance in upholding the Help America Vote Act and protect the rights of voters with disabilities through systems advocacy. 
 
Objective 4: Collaborate with state and local election offices and other community agencies to advocate for and improve voting access.
 
Goal 2: Persons with disabilities will obtain services and supports necessary for participation and inclusion in community life.
 
Objective 1: Advocate for home and community based services for individuals with disabilities other than cognitive disabilities. 
 
Objective 2:   Advocate for continued funding of the Family Support Program. 
 
Objective 3: Conduct monitoring activities to ensure defendants in Lane v. Tennessee comply with all outstanding requirements contained in the Settlement Agreements. 
 
Objective 4: Continue representation of plaintiffs in the class action Brown v. Tennessee “Waiting List” lawsuit to ensure compliance with the Settlement Agreement entered in 2004.
 
Objective 5: Provide educational advocacy on significant FY 2010 legislative issues and public policy that have an impact on the lives of persons with disabilities in Tennessee.
