Registration Opens for 2012 TN Disability MegaConference

Nashville, TN--The 10th annual Tennessee Disability MegaConference will take place at the Nashville Airport Marriott from May 31-June 1, 2012. In its 10th installment, the MegaConference continues to present interactive workshops and educational sessions, world-class speakers, and a wide array of disability products and services. This year plenary speakers include: Alex Plank, Ari Ne'eman, John McKnight, Erik Carter, and Brett Leake. Leake is a motivational speaker providing humorous keynote speeches.

Registration applications are available online. Conference fees include lunch and breakfast and are $190 for two-day registration or $100 for one-day registration. The Arc Tennessee will also host an awards banquet and dance on the evening of June 1. The cost to attend is $40.

Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee (DLAC) once again extends its commitment to self-advocates by sponsoring a portion of the stipend awards. "With many people with disabilities still being affected by the economy, DLAC wanted to make sure that as many people who wanted to attend could do so," said Shirley Shea, DLAC Executive Director. "The stipend awards are available first to anyone who has not attended the MegaConference before, but we also hope to have funds for self-advocates who have attended and are interested in attending to be able to attend."

The last day to register for a stipend is March 30, 2012, the same day as the Early Bird deadline. Anyone who is interested in applying for a stipend is encouraged to do so as soon as possible. "This being the conference's 10th anniversary, we're excited about making it one of the most memorable for all who attend," hopes Shea.
